Join us as we announce and celebrate the winners of UAB's Second Annual Service-Learning Poster Competition generously sponsored by the UAB National Alumni Society (NAS).
The top ten winning posters will be on display!
Dr. Deborah Voltz, Dean of UAB School of Education in College of Arts & Sciences, will give remarks on the importance of students having “real world” related experiences to deepen their college academic experience.
Renita Rigney, President of the NAS, and Brandy Lee, VP of Student Relations, will present the three cash prizes to the winners: First $300 *** Second $200 *** Third $100

The UAB Office for Service Learning collaborates with students, faculty, staff and community partners to ensure quality service-learning experiences that accomplish student learning objectives and satisfy community needs.
Service Learning is a pedagogical model (method of teaching and learning) that intentionally integrates:
- Enhanced academic learning
- Purposeful civic learning
- Relevant and meaningful service with the community
Service learning is integral to Goal 1 of UAB's Strategic Plan to "provide a student-centered, collaborative learning experience to prepare diverse students for rewarding careers and lives that benefit society and our regional and global economy."
